What Size Hybrid Bike?

Knowing what size hybrid bike you need is a key step in the buying process. Helpfully all bike brands use slightly different sizing and change it over time. We’ve put together some simple charts below which act as a rough guide. These are based on the official 2022 and 2023 sizing charts from each brand for their most popular hybrid models. You should always double-check on the model you are looking at to make sure the sizing matches before you buy.

Fittings and Test Rides

Of course we’d always say the best way to figure out what size hybrid bike you need is to visit one of our stores. Our experienced staff can sit you on a couple of different size bikes and adjust them to find the best fit. We can also arrange test rides so you can get a feel for how the bike will ride. This is especially useful if you are borderline between sizes.

Height and Gender

Some brands give different measurements for inside leg and arm length. To keep things simple we’ve just gone with rider height in CM as this is a measure all brands provide. While you may still want to check inside leg measurements later, the height in CM will give you a good start point.

All hybrid bikes from Trek, Specialized and Orbea are unisex so you will see their measurements repeated in the tables below. As you can see Specialized offer the biggest range of sizing on their hybrid bikes.

Men’s hybrid bike sizes

The table below is in CM. It shows the recommended frame size on each brand’s most popular hybrid models for riders of different heights.

Women’s hybrid bike sizes

Specialized, Trek and Orbea only do unisex hybrid bikes. So their sizing in the table below is an exact copy from the men’s sizing table above. Cannondale and Whyte do women’s specific bikes with a different frame. As with the men’s table all sizing is in CM and is based on the height of the rider.
