When photographer Luke James decided to build his dream Colnago C68, we couldn’t wait to see the result! The C series is a bike with a heritage which few bikes can rival. It’s latest generation, C68, results from 4 years of research and development.

As a creative with a long standing passion for road cycling, both performance and aesthetics are extremely important to Luke. He set out to create a beautiful, high end masterpiece which any road bike enthusiast would be proud of.

Luke opted for the black colourway, which is both discreet and interesting in equal measure. The frame has a subtle, but adequate, contrast between the gloss and matte paint finishes. A flick of gloss dark grey and the Italian flag make this stealthy frame instantly recognizable as a Colnago, even from a distance.

The build begins!

For racing and chasing down KOM’s, the right choice of wheels is vital. Luke opted for a set of Lightweights, wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tyres. The production of carbon wheels is an artform, which Lightweight have engineered down to the last details. The Pirelli P-Zero needs no introduction. They give an excellent balanced performance and are the go to tyre for many riders.

The drivetrain and brakes are all Shimano components. The rear mech has been upgraded with a CeramicSpeed OSPW which saves watts and improves the bikes overall performance. CeramicSpeed bearings are second to none, with excellent smoothness and durability.

As you would expect from a photographer, Luke’s new Colanago went straight from the workshop to a photoshoot. To finish off this post, we’ve put some of our favourite images below.
