Benefits of cycling

The benefits of cycling are endless, and this is what bike week is trying to demonstrate to those who do not take part in the hobby. There are not just health benefits which arise from cycling, there are also financial and economical benefits and also huge environmental benefits. Make sure to wear protective gear such as helmets, to make sure you are safe.

Keep fit

Perhaps the biggest benefit of cycling is the fact that it is fantastic for people looking to keep fit or lose weight. You are having fun, but also staying active and working out. If you and a group of friends are looking for a new hobby to get you out of the house more, or to get fitter and lose some weight, group bike rides are fantastic. You can push each other and also get competitive. If you’re looking for group rides be sure to check out our instagram for upcoming group rides.

Cycling has been found as a great way for relieving stress and dealing with mental health. You can head out on your bike and leave all your problems and worries behind. Keeping fit and active releases endorphins, which will help towards dealing with mental health issues, and keep you feeling great!

Spend Time With Friends and Family

Cycling is a great hobby to take up for spending more time with friends and family. Parents can teach their children to ride a bike and spend quality time with them, away from technology and screens. If you have friends and family who don’t live within walking distance, arrange to meet them for a bike ride, or simply hop on your bike and travel to see them. You will be getting your daily exercise in, whilst also making it possible to visit them.

Think of the environment

If we all started using bikes more for travel, this would have a massive positive impact on the environment around us. Traveling a short distance? Opt out of getting into your car or getting the bus, and instead hop on your bike. There are more and more cars on the roads each day, and so many forms of transport which are having devastating effects on the world we live in.

Financial benefits

You don’t have to pay to get on your bike, you don’t have to pay insurance or tax on your bike, you don’t have to pay for petrol or diesel for your bike. The only thing you have to pay for is the bike itself. You will be amazed at how much money you can save opting to go for a cycle rather than paying for a taxi or bus, or driving. Cycling is cost free!
