We’re all riders at J’s Cycle Shack, therefore we know that whilst ‘off the peg’ bikes are really well specced now, there’s always something every rider wants to change on them to make them truly our own. Whether it is something as simple as a stem length change, or maybe you prefer Sram over Shimano.

Whatever the reason for going fully custom our knowledgeable team will be able to guide you on the custom build process to make sure you have your dream bike in no time.

The custom build process

  1. Initial discussion – This is where we find out what sort of riding you’re planning to do on the bike, your likes and dislikes and most importantly your fit requirements.
  2. Full specification – One of our team who specialises in either road, mountain, or gravel will pull together the full specification for your bike. We will then schedule a call with you to discuss this and make any necessary changes to ensure you are 100% happy.
  3. The build – We will source all the parts for your build. One of our fully Cytech qualified mechanics will then commence with the build. All our bikes go through a rigorous twenty-point check after being built to ensure they are ready to ride straight away.
  4. Collection or delivery – If you are local to either of our stores we’d love for you to come and collect your new bike. We can then talk you through the bedding in process and make sure everything fits perfectly. If you are further afield one of our team will hand deliver your bike to you and give you the same setup and fit tips.
  5. First service – Once you have ridden your new pride and joy for a couple of hundred miles you can drop it into our workshop for a quick tune up service. One of our mechanics will check all the bolts are still correctly torqued and make sure the gears are changing smoothly following the bedding in process. We can also make any tweaks you may require at this point.
