2022 Trek Roscoe Range

The Trek Roscoe has been a really popular bike for the last couple of years. For the 2022 model year Trek have given the range an overhaul which includes some pretty big changes to the design of the Roscoe.

The old Roscoe was intended as a super stable hardtail mountain bike that came with really wide tyres, nimble 27.5” wheels and plenty of suspension travel. Trek aimed it at people who were new to mountain biking and wanted a bike that would be forgiving, as well as to more experienced riders who wanted to push themselves on technical terrain. The new 2022 bike is aimed more at serious trail riders and enduro riders who want a simple no-fuss alternative to full suspension bikes. It is design to handle tough single-track descents, big jumps and climbs. This change in focus also means a change in price-point with the old Roscoe 8 was £1495 the new one is £1950. There is also now a new Roscoe 9 at £2200.

Bigger Wheels And Bigger Suspension

The two biggest and most noticeable changes are on the wheels and suspension. The old Roscoe used 27.5” wheels. The new ones are 29” (other than the Xsmall frame size which still uses 27.5”). The bigger wheels roll faster and help you to glide over roots and rocks so you can carry more speed.

The front suspension travel on the old Roscoe was 120mm, on the new version it is 140mm, although it can take a 150mm fork if you want to fit one. The bigger fork helps with the Roscoe’s transition from a beginner’s bike to an expert level bike.

To take the bigger wheels and bigger suspension Trek have changed the Roscoe frame. It now comes with longer reach and a slacker head angle. In keeping with the kind of riding Trek expect the Roscoe to be doing it also comes with a built in bash-guard on the bottom of the frame, ISCG chainguard mounts and space for longer dropper posts.
